Differences in Weight Status and Autonomous Motivation towards Sports among Children with Various Profiles of Motor Competence and Organized Sports Participation

This study aimed (1) to identify profiles in children based on actual motor competence (AMC), perceived (PMC), and organized sports participation (OSP), (2) examine differences among these weight status as well autonomous motivation towards sports. Children’s (N = 206; 112 boys; Mage 10.83 ± 0.92 years) AMC, PMC, OSP, status, were measured using validated assessment tools. Cluster analyses identified three with completely convergent levels of OSP partially levels. Children the average high had most optimal profile, they combined a healthier elevated motivation, while opposite was true for low all cluster-variables. Partially showed that AMC PMC appear crucial relatively highest independent their Overall, findings highlight importance promoting simultaneously help achieving healthy being autonomously motivated OSP.
